100 Million Sold
This past week, Wednesday, April 16th, it was announced the 100 million Sims games sold! That's an awful lot! It's been 8 years since the Sims has been brought to us, 4 years since the Sims 2, and in less then one year, we will all have the opportunity to purchase the Sims 3.
The Sims has brought in around $4 billion dollars! That is a heck of a lot of money! That's like $500 million a year! But what makes this game so popular to so many people? Is it the little control freak inside us all that likes to play god? Do we enjoy using our creative minds to think up stories, create lots and clothes, or....what? Reason could say that so many people like it because it's them. Their thoughts, their creations, their world. You can be, do, think whatever you want because it's your world to control.
Think about it, simmers create their sims however they want them. Some people choose to create unique, different sims, others only create perfect sims that end up looking similar to their next door neighbor. But it doesn't matter because the game can be and do whatever you want! And creating sims never stop, you can be an architect, police officer, mother, father, sister, llama enthusiast, and masterpiece painter all at the same time. It's your world!
Anyways, EA/Maxis is very happy to have reached this milestone, and it's all thanks to us simmers! Some things they've done recently because of this milestone is the new logo at ts2.com. They've also given us an outfit to download so our sims can party hard because of this accomplishment!
They've also asked we share our stories about Sims. Because we all have a tale to tell. And of course, a special deal, bye one get one free! So even if you have the game already, you can buy two for your friends! The Sims is a big part of our lives, it brings us together, no really, this is a Sims newspaper...so technically there's no reason to read it if you didn't have some background knowledge of the sims. Fansites, News Sites, and Sites with downloads have all been created because of this game. Friendships have been made, and kind words exchanged. We owe it all to Sims. Here's to another eight years!
